Ca. 1760's Bombardier officer helmet of the Grenadier regiment at the time of the reign of Catherine the Great.

Superbly preserved extremely rare example of Artillery Corps Bombardier regiment grenadier officer’s parade cap from the reign of Catherine the Great. Black leather skull surmounted by flaming grenade finial. With large gilt brass front plate lined in thick red-colored leather, front decorated with Imperial eagle under crowned Empress’ cipher. Skull trimmed with gilt ribbon-shaped brass plates decorated with laurel leaf pattern, back mounted by gilt badge showing crowned Catherine II cipher over red painted cartouche. Thick leather rear visor, underside painted red. Red quilted liner.

Condition: Showing some wear, minor loss of gold-plating on brass parts and some wear to liner, overall in well-preserved condition with all original parts. Of extreme rarity, especially in such superb condition.
