Superbly preserved quality example of a Nicholas II era polished brass officer’s helmet with polished tompac body, sloped front visor and lobster tail rear visor trimmed in silvered brass. Front-mounted with enameled star of the order of St. Andrew the First Called, surmounted by silver plated, finely detailed double-headed crowned Imperial eagle with outspread wings. Round silvered side cockade painted in Romanov’s colors, silver-plated brass leather-backed chinscales. Red “curtain” type liner and red velvet visor’s lining. Underside stamped with maker’s mark under the Imperial warrant P. Fokin, Saint Petersburg and number 57.
Height: 13 in (34 cm)
Condition: Minor cosmetic scratches, patina on silverplating, otherwise superb original condition with all original parts.
Maker P. Fokin in Saint Petersburg was a purveyor to the Russian Imperial Court and the most important maker of cuirassier helmets in Imperial Russia.
