Named ca. 1896 Russian Life-Guard Cossack Regiment officer's presentation St. Anne For Gallantry award shashka with multiple badges for excellence in military arts.
Description:Finely engraved blade with scenes of Cossack cavalry and artillery. Cipher of Nicholas II and inscription for Gallantry on the pommel, brass and enamel WW1-era badge of the order of St. Anne 4th class on the langet. The scabbard has five badges for excellence in military arts: (top to bottom) For Excellent Fencing scroll, For Fencing with Two Weapons I class, For Excellent shooting scroll and I class badge and 1912 dated award brass plaque "To sotnic (Lieutenant) of Life-Guards Cossack Regiment K. F. Pozdnev for Excellent Shooting." Zlatoust Arms Factory and Arsenal markings on the blade. Original order of St. Anne knot.
Condition: All original parts, showing some wear especially on the scabbard.
