Model 1798 Light Cavalry klytch-type sword "For Gallantry" presentation "Golden Weapon" from Napoleonic wars era.
Description: Classic model 1798 Light Cavalry officer's sword with an inscription "For Gallantry" on both sides of the crossbar. A pre-cursor of the order of St. George "Golden Weapons," this type of swrod was bestowed during the time of Napoleonic Wars of 1803-1812 to approximately 400 officers who showed high level of gallantry in battle.
Condition: Very good original condition with some wear and corrosion on the blade.
