Ca. 1901 dated Caucasian style Shashqua sword with horn hilt, silver fittings and early Damascus steel forged blade.
Description: Classic Caucasian shashqua sword with black Caucasian horn hilt and silver fittings decorated with chased and nielloed ornamentation. The locket is nielloed with 1901 date, but the blade is an earler 19th cetury Damascus patterned hand forged steel ("Tears of the Wounded" circular pattern) with clear maker's markings on both sides.
Condition: Showing significant wear consistent with battle-used item.
