Model 1940 Soviet General rank parade saber.

Description:

The hilt consists of a handle and steel guard. The handle is made of yellow plastic with cross grip lines. On the pommel there is an embossed image of a star and engraved image of a ribbon and accending rays. The letters "USSR" are engraved on the tang. Knuckle bow is decorated with engraved floral ornamentation. All fittings are chromed same as metal scabbard. The lightly curved steel blade has two wide and two narrow fullers.

This type of saber was regulated to generals of cavalry, infantry and artillery branches to replace model 1927 shashqua. It was a part of a parade uniform of generals leading lines of troops during a parade and officers - commanders of honorary guards.

Condition: Minor cosmetic scratches on metal parts, very minor chrome-plating loss on the tang, otherwise superb original condition, all original parts.
