C. 1950's Soviet silver niello presentation Klytch sword made in Dagestan village of Kubachi.
Such traditional style swords were made in the Caucasus in 1950-1960's to be presented by the Soviet government as gift to visiting foreign dignitaries. High quality curved chrome plated steel blade blade, all-silver fittings are profusely decorated on both sides (!) by intricated hand chased, engraved and nielloed ornamentation. This inexpensive and richly decorated item can enrich any collection or serve as an original and memorable present. Silver hallmarked for 875/1000 purity with a Soviet silver mark used between 1927 and 1958 as shown.
